Subject: [K-list] Interim results triggers revisited poll

Dear List,

Interim results for the Trigger poll:

Twenty-two people have so far responded. Thanks everyone! :))

To the question:

1. Did you have a spontaneous awakening, or was it "planned?"

17 replied spontaneous
2 replied they were born with K
2 people replied it's been a slow, gradual process
Only 1 person replied "planned."

Comments such as:
"It wasn't planned, since I had no idea what I was heading for." and "Not
consciously- but all three mentioned above were used often unwittingly and
without knowledge of why or how they worked," were common.

2. What do you think triggered your awakening?
a. Was an "eastern" technique involved? ( i.e. meditation, Hatha Yoga,
chanting etc.) and if so which one?

What is fascinating about this response is that although 16 people said their
awakening was spontaneous, eight of these had practiced meditation either
currently or in the past and two had previously done Tai Chi or Hatha Yoga.
Three people experienced inadvertent shaktipat. All these are "Eastern"
practices. I think what we can assume that we can expect to see increasingly
more "spontaneous" awakenings as more and more people make use of these
practices for non spiritual reasons--i.e. relaxation and "exercise," and as
these practices become more mainstream and part of our daily lives.

One person mentioned LSD as a trigger and two people said love triggered
their awakening, one said he was simply sitting and thinking, meditating on
the death of Jesus, and yet another mentioned doing energy work.
 
b. Was a strong emotion involved? Love? Fear? Pain? Despair? and if so was
prayer involved?

Nine people mentioned love or desire as being involved in their awakening
six people mentioned fear
Pain was mentioned by two,
Stress/Loss/anger by four
Depression was mentioned by 3
Two people responded No to the question

c. Do you think heredity is implicated?

These results were pretty evenly divided:

Eight people said possibly, maybe, or not sure.
Eight people said no or don't think so
Six people responded yes or probably,

d. Did you have an NDE (Near Death experience)?

This was also evenly divided with 11 people replying no. Those responding
"yes" were divided between symbolic death and nde's resulting from actual
physical near death experiences.

Are there any other's who would like to respond to the poll? (see below)

b. Was a strong emotion involved? Love? Fear? Pain? Despair? and if so was
prayer involved?
c. Do you think heredity is implicated?
d. Did you have an NDE (Near Death experience)?

I'm guessing that it is perhaps a combination of factors that triggers K and
it would be interesting to see which ones predominate!
