Yep.. I bought and sold shoes in a general store for a dozen years..
and the standard "shoe sizers" are all junk. imo. I used three different
ones to get the info i needed. One size does not fit all.
To get a comfortable shoe.. you must get the instep in the right place..
fit the heel.. (or get one without a heel) fit the arch, and dont pinch
the toes..
Earth shoes.. were invented by the hippies for that very reason.
Ugly.. but comfortable.
Most people will buy a shoe that is too small.. becuase it fits their ego
better than it fits their foot. Big feet are ugly.. right?.. especially
for women!
Think of it more like " a large understanding" :-)
I sorta got so I knew which manufactures would
best fit which people.. Red Wing had the best variety of sizes.
and some people I would have to special order to get a proper fit.
like Wrangler and Levi jeans.. Levi 501 was like a cheap
hotel for me.. "No Ball Room".. Just cuz they cost more.. doesn't
mean its better for you.
Next time you buy a pair of shoes.. make them fit you with a pair
of thick socks( i always wear 2 pair.. since the Army) ... nice n thick.
You'd think it would be too hot.. but not really.. sweaty and sticky is
much
worse.. and the extra bulk keeps my feet dry. So NEVER buy plastic
or "patent leather ".. (except for looks) Make sure it says.. "all
leather upper"
and then pay attention to how it feels to the ball of the foot and the
instep.
If it feels ok while you are walking around.. and then hurts when you stop
or sit for a while.. it doesn't fit you right !! (just the opposite of
how most
people buy shoes) This "break in" period.. is the deception... your foot is
trying to make the shoe fit.. and the agony is your foot trying fit the
shoe.
If the shoe fits.. wear it. :-)

joke.. about leather :
Lady says to the guy with a leather jacket.. Don't you realize that an
animal
died.. just so you could have that jacket?
Guy says.. I didn't think there were any witnesses... now I'm going to
have
to kill you too.
