In the long run, spontaneous awakening or receiving shaktipat makes little
difference. Either method will be a step on the path IMHO. What makes a
difference is your being ready for new insights and ways of thinking. If
your not ready to accept new ideas, then neither method will avail you much.
I was not ready for my spontaneous awakening, so it took me 20 years to catch
up mentally to what had happened. Those 20 years were fairly uncomfortable.

Either method is great, if your ready to do the inner work that comes
afterwards.
