Not necessarily. We are having a discussion along these lines over on the sister list, Kundalini Sex.

Combining the chakras in various aspects can have powerful effects on one's life for benefit. My friend, a martial arts master and Taoist Yoga expert, recently mentioned to me that combining the 2nd, 4th, and 6th chakras is commonly done in martial arts to create a nuclear power source of energy.

My own personal intuition tells me that on an evolutionary scale all the chakras in one's energy system will eventually combine to become one unified chakra. Can't prove it except with personal experience. I have seen no literature on it but have been experimenting with the process. I first had a glimpse of this when experiencing the merging of Shiva Shakti energies leading to a non dual state.
