Hello everybody,

I was wondering if anyone has any advice on how to confront and
embrace one's Shadow. I've come to the conclusion that a meeting with
mine is imminent and that I am being prepared for it right now. In
face, I was contemplating posting this and out of nowhere pops this
spider!! Now, anyone who's read my posts know that spiders are one of
the things I loathe and fear most in the world, but that I am still
madly fascinated by them. Not to mention that they show up as portal
guardians and guides. I've got one trapped under a Root Beer glass
right now and will bring it outdoors later. Whenever I meditate, or
read my Tarot cards, or interpret my dreams, they all suggest I need
to meet with my Shadow and unite the polarity within myself. I know
for some spiritual evolution comes after a long stint with the Light.
Mine, however, seems to be driven by the dark side of me. I think I
need to become intimately aquainted with the Dark before I really get
to know the Light. Which is fairly apt if you know me. Even when I'm
radiantly happy I still have this sardonic, mocking energy about me.
And I like being around happy people, but they majorly bring out the
devil in me!! Their sunshine just makes me want to rain on them.
Balance and all, I guess.

Is there any truly safe way to meet with one's dark side? I'm just
terrified I'll get warped into a dark plane full of spiders and bugs
crawling on me. Not to mention other unmentionable things. You know,
scary devils and monsters and stuff. Although when I have visions of
red dudes with horns and lasciviousness, I just recognize them as
manifestations of my muladhara chakra these days. Anyway, if anyone
knows any rituals, meditations, etc to do this without going crazy,
I'd appreciate the feedback. Thanks.
