On 2002/09/02 14:09, hbrost posted thus to the K-list: Hello All,
Don't know whether to feel awfully special or awfully picked on, with the discussion over what I meant -- or did not mean. Maybe it would have been better to ask me what I meant rather than speculating over what I really meant and/or worrying how others might take offense over what I might have meant. As I explained in another post, I certainly didn't mean to offend anyone, but have come to the conclusion that since I "thought" I wrote about an overall definition or description of Kundalini, I have to say that what I wrote is MY story and I'm stickin' to it.
Here are three thoughts I've come to regarding your responses to my e-mail: 1. Never use capital letters or exclamation marks; 2. State all disclaimers before any sort of statement that could be construed in any kind of ambiguous way or use "IMO" before or after the statement; and 3. Use the following quote as a sig line: "Truth is One, Paths are Many." (Thanks Brad)
The point I tried to make (obviously not successfully) is that there is only One Truth. When all is said and done there obviously can't be two or three. IMO, the point of our spiritual evolution is to move to a point where we are all One, IMO. So, to get to that supposed state, we may need to move to a point where we possibly do not exist as United Methodists, or atheists, or Sufis, -- or anything -- because that, IMO, declares separatism. In what I've experienced personally and read about Kundalini, that is one of the processes that occurs in some awakenings, at least with mine. No?
Many people write about many experiences on this list. I love this list and I love the diversity. I take the time to read every post and often do not agree with what someone has written. At times people go in the exact opposite direction of my beliefs, sometimes my "religious" beliefs, but personally, I don't take the time or effort to become upset, those are their beliefs and thoughts, and I simply delete. In the past it hasn't been my style to dictate what other people should or should not believe and I doubt I'm going to start now. So, quite frankly, I -- me -- feel less than terrific about the dissection and interpretation of my words, words used assuming the members of this list look at Kundalini as a creative force, which to me has some kind of assignation to a creator. Regarding the content of my entire post, if someone does not believe in some kind of God/Goddess, then it probably doesn't serve them well to look at the Kundalini Yoga sites. And what is probably the most ironic thing of it all is that K Yoga is taught by Sikhs who traditionally stand up for everyone's right to worship as they choose.
Sat Nam,

Dear Ken,
My objection was certainly not to Hety's symbols. I've used them myself. My
objection was her categorizing them as "fact" and "Truth."
