Subject: RE: [K-list] The Karma of Eating
From: HSV & AAL
On 2002/08/23 12:12, HSV & AAL posted thus to the K-list: I'm in agreement with you on this topic. All of us have our own
vehicles to use on our journey. What helps one person to attain
enlightenment might not work for another. It is my belief that
we are omnivores. From the very beginning of man, we ate meat
because that's who we are. We are still a part of the animal
kingdom and we have instincts just as all the others do. There
are times when I crave meat, other times when I crave veggies
and fruit, and other times when I crave sweets. I think it's
our body's way of telling us there's something it needs. BUT,
it is the firm belief of some that meat is a great hinderance
to spiritual enlightenment and I respect that completely and
cannot say whether it is right or wrong. In fact, I don't
believe there is a right or wrong. Omnivore, Herbivore, or
Carnivore, we all have to live with our own choices.-----Original Message-----

Now-without trying to get hostile here..
I am not for or against eating meat-to each their own..
Animals eat meat...A lion goes out, hunts down his/her prey,
and yes, kills their dinner. They eat it, chomping away, and then nap
lazily under the sun. Does the lion regret it? Feel guilt? Is the lion
judgmental, or care how much money s/he makes in an hour?
Does the lion face karma for doing what evolution has lead him to do?
Morals are in the minds of men and women-spirital journeys are as well (of
corse, we made up both of the words!)
Death is only a part of life. Death isn't negative, though sad.
Maybe death will be the best thing that ever happens?
Maybe..? I'm just curious though-if a lion eats his prey, because his teeth
can only chew on meat...how could he be held accountable for trying to
survive?
