Yes, you're in the Dark Night. God is not absent (how could It be or how
could you be apart from It?!). But you have begun the transformation from
knowing God "out there" to BEING God. Since our ego is the mechanism through
which we initially experience the divine, we can, for a time, feel the divine
has abandoned us when our ego or sense of self starts to transform. This
pain is actually the beginning of the breakdown of the habitual sense of self
that has to go in order for divinity to shine through. Come to understand
God as the darkness as well as the light. And surrender. Holly
