Dear Hety et al.,

I believe seeing various gurus or even everyday people as separate
faces and bodies is a manifistation of Maya, that is, illusion. The
differences becomes less apparent as we go from the physical to
astral to causal relms. But as you say, we tend to associate
various accomplishments to the individual faces, thus enhancing the
differences and negating the oneness. What did Jesus say during his
trial when asked, "Are you the Messiah"? He replied, "Are we not
all children of the one God"?

This tendancy to multiply one into many can also be seen in the
mundane, in the use of different metaphores, different languages,
etc. by various cultures. But the symbol is not the reality! Does
calling water agua, wasser, or H2O make it any less wet?

It saddens me to see many Christians fall into this trap. Rather
than trying to realize the spirit of God within themselves, like
Jesus did, they think that a mental image of a bearded man or the
word Jesus is the only way to God. Yogananda called knowledge of
the inner presence of God Christ consciousness, and made a
distinction between it and Jesus the son of man. I have no problem
with people who use Jesus as their savior and guru, but I cannot
abide religious bigotry and narrow-mindedness.

With Peace and Love,

Ken

and accomplishments, such as Sri's Yukteswar and Yogananda. But
really, WHO were they? Were they really the "bodies" we hold in
esteem with faces and expressions in pictures (please don't laugh!)
OR are they unique representations of God, OR wouldn't we as human
beings be able to recognize thoughts and ideas without the apparent
encasement of the bones and skin? What if they're in different
bodies today or if, as in the case of Babaji, still alive?

ego-sense, my blond hair, my dogs, my history -- I'm really not me.
I'm pure Light. And most likely I was/am many, many other human
beings and probably other types of beings. So basically, all the
people we hold in high esteem aren't really who we think they are,
we just THINK they are. This is a tough question to put into words,
but you probably get the idea!
