On 2002/08/08 19:44, mundaneyogi posted thus to the K-list: Talk about synchronicity. I just finished re-reading Gopi Krishna's
Kundalini book and was looking through my collection of around 700
books for something else to re-read. After giving a book on fractal
mathematics a cursory look through, I decided to go
find "Foundations of Tibetan Mysticism" by Lama Govinda. While
looking for that book I came across "The Holy Science", which I
haven't read since the late 1970's, and started reading parts of it
that I found interesting. While reading it I recalled again how
influential Sir Yukteswar must have been on Yogananda. Sri
Yukteswar really makes some good connections between eastern and
western religious ideas -- OM (AUM) and Amen, the seven levels and
the seven churches, etc.
Anyway, I finally found "Foundations..." and set about reading it
from the beginning. It's a wonderful book. A lot of the discussion
in the beginning chapters is about OM, and Lama Govinda also points
out that it should be considered in three parts, as AUM (just as Sri
Yukteswar and Yoganana do).
After reading a few chapters, I decided to skip ahead and look at
some the diagrams, and was struck by the similarities to the
diagrams in "Holy Science" -- more sychronicity. I began to wonder
if Sri Yukteswar got some of his ideas from Tibetan Buddhism, but
they were more likey from Hindu Vedic texts. It seems spiritual
truth transcends religeous creeds.
On a side note, while I was reading, K. started manifesting in an
interesting manner. The OM vibration that I am usually aware of
became noticably louder, accompanied by the typical blissful
feeling, but I also saw some pleasing, deep blue, translucent fields
of energy. What's interesting is, if that had happened 25 or 30
years ago, I would have been scared out of my wits, and would have
interpreted it as either an axiety attack, an LSD flashback, or some
kind of psychotic event. Now, it just felt like K. letting me know
that what I was reading was the truth and of the essence. Neat, huh?
With love and peace,
Ken

Yogananda's Guru. He writes about the Sapta Patalas, seven
churches, in reference to how the universe is divided into fourteen
spheres, seven Swargas and seven Patalas. He makes reference to
Revelations 1:12, 13, 16 and 20. Very interesting reading!
