Subject: [K-list] Finally realizing Hatha Yoga and stretching in general
From: WOOPACHING
On 2002/07/31 21:37, WOOPACHING posted thus to the K-list: Hello,
As a child growing up being very active in all types of sports, I
always remember despising stretching. I hated the tense strain, the
painfull sensations it created. Too bad it is only now that I come to
realize the full benifits of what stretching is supposed to be.
Tonight I sat on my floor stretching attempting some hatha yoga
positions. I am now able to look further past the pain and tension
now. Once given into, the pain and tension becomes relaxed near
blissfull sensations. The forms are then simply relaxed into rather
than forcing the body uncomfortably. I still am forcing the body of
course being so new to the art, but once in near position I attempt
to focus completely on the feel and sound of my breath, and that way
let the painfull stress subside and flow through my limbs.
I hope I do not forget this feeling the next time I sit down to
stretch. I do not think I will, but if I do I am glad to have
experienced something closer to true stretching at least once.Keith
