Uhuru means 'independence'.It is the Swahili word for
'independence' For example,when we got independence
from Britain,we say that we got 'UHURU',and the summit
was given that name for that selfsame reason,to remind
us of Independence Day.
So it was amusing to me to note that I was going to
the summit on the Independence Day of America. It was
a coincidence,I had not planned it.
But I did not quite make it.I was 15 steps,15 stone
steps of reaching Gillman's Point,which is 700ft, from
the summit.Many old people made it to the summit.Many
girls made it to the summit. So I was very
embarrassed,when I could not make it to the summit.
I thougth it was a joke that I was having trouble with
with the last 15 steps. But then I decided that it was
not a joke,and I gave up.
That is why I am so interested in any talk about
Kundalini,which promises to raise my vibrations a few
octaves higher and to give me just a little bit more
ernegy so tht I can avoid such embarrassments in the
future.
Many foreigners come here to climb the
mountain,especially in this season.It is a lot of
fun,if you want to do it.Even 60 and 70 year olds,are
enthusiastic of climbing the mountain,and many of them
make it to the summit,which is what made my failure so
puzzling to me. I climbed higher than 5000mt.,but I
did not make it to the top.
But if someone wants to climb the mountain,you can
contact your travel agent.I have talked about it with
the guides and the porters,and they say that,once a
person arrives here ,it can cost as little as 600
dollars to climb the mountain,300 dollars for the
National Park fees,because the mountain area is a
National Park,and 300dollars for the 5-day hike to
climb the mountain.
