Subject: [K-list] Drumming and Meditation
From: Christopher Wynter
On 2002/07/04 15:41, Christopher Wynter posted thus to the K-list: The drum is the echo of the moods and emotions of the
Human Heart finding its expression
via a Musical Instrument.
I have often found that those who react to the drums are
reacting to the emotions that rise from within the heart,
evoked by the beat ..
Going deeper, I have also found that many who react to
the drum beat can access, through the heart rate beat
of a single drum, a fear of life itself -
one of the primordial fears ..
To move beyond this, it can be advantageous to meditate
on your own hear beat .. allowing it to echo through every
cell of your body ..
The advantages are two-fold ..
you do not need a CD player ..
it is always with you
as the symbol of your reason_for_living
The other music that is always with you which you can
"tune in to" at any time, is created from the sound of
your own breath in the act of breathing, the sound of
the blood moving through your own veins and arteries,
the sounds of the neurons firing in your nervous system
as you go about all of the functions and processes of
every day life ..
I've listened to a lot of CD's - and none I have heard has
ever been able to capture the majesty of the inner
orchestra as witnessed from a still mind .. until the
sound merges with the mind in the stillness of total
cell-f_absorption.
