Kenneth .. as a bit of a follow up to this .. and, yes, it was a
safety issue for me too .. there were a few school teachers in my
groups that I worked through this "practice" with ..

and when they went back to their classes and started teaching from
"what they knew" rather than what they read out of books or what
they "were responsible for", a very interesting thing happened ..

which was that their students' average examination marks improved
markedly.

So, I did a little investigating here and found that, within the
groups, a lot of the people discovered that when they were much
younger (say under 12), their scholastic marks were always a lot
better than they were when they got older ..

and what we came up with was that, where the teacher actually
"knew their stuff" - rather than having to read it out or rely
on some external prompt - the children were able to "pick up"
the information more easily .. and it was a bit like another
dimension was added to their learning ..

Now when children come to me that are having difficulties at school,
I ask the obvious question .. and perhaps unfortunately, the answer
has always been that the teacher worked from books all of the time ..

So - don't be hard on yourself ..
