It was the lack of being told anything about God that fitted my BS of
the time that made it so hard for me to know better. All the bible
stories seemed a bit too unbelievable.

This was as I was growing up at school. No one ever explained to me how
and why we pray and when I sang hymns I never felt better for doing so.
In fact I was more self conscious of what others thought I sounded like
so would often not bother to sing at all. I'd be usually bored stiff and
couldn't wait for the assembly to end.

I found more comfort in external things that were colourful and often
unpredictable, like computers and the games and watching the sun shine
through the window :).
