On 2002/06/25 16:49, Christopher Wynter posted thus to the K-list: Hello Hetty ..
I have no problems with anything that you have written ..
The operative words in what I wrote were
"Fundamental Doctrine"
and, as I have so often written (even as recently in
"The Song of the Song Master" on this list, there are
metaphors contained in the Sacred Texts which belie
what is taught_from_the_pulpit_on_sunday.
However, the Fundamentalist also discourages people
from reading for themselves .. so society has been
brought up to believe_what_you_are_told_without_question.
However - the root meaning of "god" is NOT creator - as you
will find out if you look at the definition from the people who
invented this word.
Thus, to refer to the archetypes of other religions as "gods"
is, I feel, to do a disservice to their inherent wisdom.
For example, if you read Buddhism as a Psychology - especially
as a Transpersonal (beyond personality) Psychology, you will
find that it becomes very much easier to understand.
Oh .. be careful of the word "Divine" - it too, has a
definition_in_consciousness where the thinking mind
understands one thing, but the unconscious mind has
a totally different "picture" ..
which is why I work at NOT using "spiritual words"
and seek plain English words that have less of a
reaction from within the unconscious-belief system.
Only when the definition_in_consciousness is changed
within both the Un-conscious and the Supra-conscious
will these words have harmony behind them .. and the
"ruarch" - the Breath_of_Life_ItSelf (which the Christians
translated as "Spirit") can then become "Real" as in
"Real_isation" as an expression of being rather than an
intellectual pursuit.
