Speaking in tongues or glossolalia is not specific just to charismatic Christians. It can be a language of bliss found also as a manifestation of kundalini symptoms.

Personally, I am not so surprised by the gift of speaking in tongues but by the gift of someone hearing it and interpreting the language that is spoken.

It is commonly known in christian circles as the language of spirit or of angels although some speak foreign or extinct languages too without having any former knowledge in them.

One can also write these languages down rather than just speak them. Think of automatic writing where we just put the pen to paper and an inner source takes over. It can be in your own language or another's.
