    Water is usually a metaphor for spiritual energy. A lake or ocean
represents the unconscious.
    My favorite self hypnosis visualization, as a teenager involved
starting on a raft in a calm sea, and diving down, down, down. No worry
about air, sometimes I would find barriers or the appearance of the bottom,
but it always turned out to be an undersea cliff edge like a continental
shelf. I could swim around it and go deeper. It was good for my ADD brain
because it was interesting. I would swim past fish and strange sunken
ruins... till I got as deep as I felt I could go, or deep enough to do what
I came for...
