Questions, comments, or book references, or anything are/is appreciated. I
also wonder about the number of California residents frequenting the list?
Though it should probably be asked under a different heading.
-from 5/31.... My last final at a community college, before I transfer, was
scheduled at 8:00 AM, but unbeknownst to me, the teacher had arranged for it
to start at 9:30AM. Leaving way too early at 7:45, I walked outside, to the
sight of a crow flying low over my head, at the very second I exited my
garage. I found this occurrence very strange, and exciting, as the day
before, at a local park, I had come across a beautiful crow feather, in
pristine condition, and had been thinking about it quite a bit, and the
significance of seeing a crow before my test. Around two weeks before finding
the feather, I had also had a dream involving the beautiful black bird, that
I actually remembered and doubt I could forget. The dream took place, also at
Averill park, but not near where I found the feather. It involved a corvine
landing on my shoulder, and a friend of mine saying, "This ain't happening
for nothing" Upon awakening in the morning I immediately thought of the
strange double negative phrase used by my friend, and the entire dream came
flooding back to me. Assuming that the dream was merely residue from reading
books by authors such as Carlos Castaneda, and Ted Andrews, I set the dream
aside, and went about my finals preperations, but it was in the back of my
head. After finding the feather, and spotting the crow as I left for school
unwittingly early, crows were firmly in my thoughts. When I arrived at
school, and found out about my timetable error, I decided to head back to my
car, and further study for my test. On the walk to the car, I passed a girl
that had always interested me, but I could never bring my shy self to talk
to, and that I hadn't seen around campus more than once the whole semester.
Being lame, I said nothing, but plotted on how to accidentally make her
acquaintance later. Arriving at my car, I sat for a while studying in the
parking lot. When I took a look at the lot, I noticed two crows playing, and
eating, on the asphalt in front of me, with one being clearly larger than the
other. After some time, both crows, up and took off, very swiftly, towards
the west. I wondered about this, and decided that, even though it was still
nearly a half hour til the test, it was time to walk towards class. As I
neared my destination, I saw, once again, the same girl, who must have
finished her test with psychic timing, walking by herself directly at me! I
knew I had to act, this was far too great a coincidence; crows had shown me
the way, on this day that I mistakenly showed up early. She approached
slowly, and my mind became a mess. She passed me by, and I had no breath.
This was, needless to say, aggravating to no end. I had become the very thing
I despise; an embodiment of fear. Feeling bad, I aced the test. Leaving
school, I saw the strange sight of a crow, and a squirrel standing next to
each other. Two days later, I was once again at the park, and I came across a
battered, and torn, crow feather. I did not pick it up. Interested in nature,
crows and spiders, grab my attention. By: Nick Saggiani
