Chanting tradional mantras has always been a problem for me. Sanskrit is not
my first language and so the words seem empty.
There is no law that says that you cannot make up your own mantras, in
whatever language, to whatever diety you like. The only rules that apply are
the for the rythym of the chant. Make it short, five or six syllables. Then
match your breathing to the rythym, doesn't matter how. For a six syllable
mantra you could inhale for three syllables and exhale for three syllables.
Or inhale for all six and exhale for all six. Just be consistant. English
works much better for me than sanskrit.
Creativity unleashes you from dogma. (?)
