The past does not exist? I'm not sure I agree but maybe I will if you explain....

We should not forget where we came from and what we've been through, don't you agree? or maybe not..

If we were better off without it, then why do we have a past, what is the point? should our memories be erased? maybe I'm missing your point, if so please explan better.
