Cheryl, you wrote:

This is not true. The above factors LOWER the pH, creating a more ACIDIC state in the body. A perfect body's pH factor should be about 7.5 (not on the Richter scale!) which one can easily test with a pH strip and some fresh urine! This is a more alkaline state (7.5) and better for your health. Above 8.0 may produce yeast infection. Also grains, without a buffering lysine component, leach calcium, phosphorus, chromium and zinc from the system. Lysine is found in legumes.
Calcium/Magnesium supplementation may actually be dangerous for people prone to developing kidney/bladder stones. All calcium supplementation is best taken with meals, which buffers the "leaching" effect of the minerals through the kidneys. Also, DISTILLED WATER is a very good way to leach valuable minerals from the body! Distilled water is definitely a no-no! While we're/I'm at it...gross consumption of spinach and chard contain calcium oxalate, which will again, leach OUT minerals instead of providing them -- and through the kidneys, I might add. Not good.
Perhaps a better way of mineral supplementation, besides some of the things that Cheryl recommends, is through alfalfa and spirulina. Minerals contained in these supplements are absorbed (or not absorbed) through the intestines, not the kidneys. Alfalfa, BTW, also INCREASES pH -- very good stuff.
Oh -- also...calcium carbonate, again, is NOT good for the kidneys.
I've been reading some terrific things about potassium and magnesium citrate. You all, especially all women, may want to research these two natural minerals -- the benefits are enormous, including the prevention of bone density loss. Now how do I know all this?? Dalmatians. My Dalmatian boy gets about 600 to 700 mgs of potassium citrate each day for urate stone formation. Honestly? I know WAY too much about this subject, but my health benefits in the long run, I keep my Dal boy healthy and so it goes.
Love,
Hety
