Subject: [K-list] Chi Kung For Keith

As I said in my last post, you should begin your practice of chi kung under
the guidance of an experienced instructor. The positions are very subtle and
the difference less then an inch out of proper alignment, over time, can
cause injury instead of healing. There are a ton of good books on chi kung
and other martial arts practices, but if you had read a book kung fu and
never studied with an instructor, would you want to spar with Jackie Chan?
There is a very good link at http://www.learn-martial-arts.com/chi-kung.
If you cannot afford an instructor, I suggest this. Go to a chinese herb
shop and ask the herbologist if he knows someone who practices chi kung at
home. If he does, contact this person and politely ask if they would be
willing to take on a student. Offer something in return, yard work, house
cleaning, baby sitting. Some of the best chi kung and t'ai chi practitioners
are the elderly chinese. They have likely been doing it all thier life
because it was the only method of healthcare available to them in China.
