The point, is that your ego is not smart or wise enough to make those
decisions. Your ego cannot know what the future will hold, but Goddess
does. From a practical, logical viewpoint, it makes sense to let the
smarter part of your mind make your decisions for you... which is the
essence of surrender.
Your ego has wantings based on the triggers of old karma and
conditioning. They pass, and are not always appropriate. Not my Will but
Thine be done is recognising that the ego that wants is not always wise in
its choosing.
What percyval is telling you, is that ego is not wise in knowing its
happiness. Ego can give you attainments, but surrender can give you bliss.

:) In the chat I said, "Wanting makes wanting".. I also said, "Ask and
it shall be given" and "knock and the door shall be opened." You asked for
a partner in life. There She is. Have none before Her.
That is the greatest love affair there is. All else is a pale
substitute. Expecting a human woman to live up to that, will just leave you
wanting.
I dunno, I usually do not pray *for* stuff, because prayers of wanting
make experiences of wanting. Prayers of gratitude for having get a second
helping of more having... even if the having is not actual. The attitude,
the affirmation of having does the magic.
Methods of manifestation... the ego struggle method and the effortless
method. The effortless method is affirming what is wanted is what Is, and
then totally letting it go.
Greg Braden gives an eloquent explanation of prayer. A formula, since
he is a scientist studying the Dead Sea scrolls. Prayer is emotion +
thought, in the Now. Think of how it will feel to have the thing you are
wanting. Imagine it, feel the bliss of it, as if it is occurring in the
now. Then let it go entirely. If doubt about having comes up, remind
yourself that Goddess has it handled and then think about something else.
That is how prayer works. Now think of the times you worry about not
having, and understand that follows the same laws of manifestation. Emotion
+ thought, in the now. So... what you focus on, will grow. Goddess doesn't
judge.
Greg Braden accompanied a Shaman to a sacred site because they needed
to end a drought. The ritual was very short, and afterwards he said to the
Shaman, "I thought you said you were going to pray for rain?"
The Shaman laughed and said that if he prayed *for* rain, then it would
never happen. What he did, is "pray rain". He focused on the energy of
rain, on the feeling of rain, aligned himself with that, and like attracts
like did the rest. He drew rain to himself by Being rain. Ended the
drought and created a small flood.
If you imagine something, or pray for something to happen in the
future, then it will always be in the future... seeming to move away as you
chase it, like a mirage. The point of power, is in the here and now.
Desires that come from the heart, tend to be fulfilled, desires that
come from ego will probably lead to frustration and disappointment.
Following your bliss VS being a slave to the ego conditioning. Wanting
creates more wanting. Pray rain.
