IMO, what you have experienced is a form of Samadhi. "Paralysis" is often a
part of this. It is accompanied by bliss when you "translate" it positively.
Ringing and other sounds in the ears are also very common. I call the
"insights" "understandings." I'd be curious to hear more of these to add to
my "understandings" list! :))
Just like with LSD, once you relax and go with the flow, the experience
becomes a positive one. But I agree, it sure is scary at first when we don't
know if we will pass through it ok--especially because we know we haven't
taken any drug. Surrender is always the key, though. But the fear often
prevents us from that surrender. I think that's why some people say that
gurus are necessary--just like guides with LSD--they know what is transpiring
and can get you through it. I feel this list is sort of a collective guru!
