It may be connected in some way with "sleep paralysis." During sleep, parts
of the body are made immobile so that we do not strike out during an active
dream state. I find there is also a tension that takes place between desire
to move and desire to stay immobile that is blissful. I imagine it could
also translate as terrifying.
