Dear Bryan,
my suggestion would be to stop fighting it, stop trying to control it, but just try to detach from it. Imagine this racing mind is the tv of somebody in the neighborhood.
It's not up to you to stop it, nor to control it or shut it off, but you can just learn to ignore it. In my experience the mind is only able to tyrannize and dominate you if you give the mind the power to do so. If you stop identifying with it, but only let it run its thing, who cares whether it thinks or runs in circles, or stands on the head?
The trick is to NOT invest emotions in the " suggestions" your mind is coming up with.
Look at it like a production line with things on it. The mind tries to get you involved, to trigger your fear or your desire or your memories or your pain......
don't jump onto the belt to take things
be where you want to be......
love
