On 2002/03/30 09:48, Rich posted thus to the K-list: Hi Lillian,
I was discussing this with someone not so long ago and came to the
conclusion that especially in the West people tend to chop and choose
who and what they love. I realise this is the same also in the East to a
degree but not quite so extensible.
A lot of my love patterns came from my parents and people around me in
my early years and me mimicking their inner and outer behaviours. It's
easy to close down on love when we are confronted by fear and I believe
this is the exact opposite of love.
To me unconditional love is about loving the things I hate, loving my
fears. Eventually they dissolve and it becomes easier to love more.
Loving everything without judging or qualifying it first. When I act
from the heart this is natural but when I live in the mind my fears and
ego are ever present.
Unconditional love also sits with compassion and wisdom if we see that
all is a part of us and that it is all a game and nothing really
matters.
