Dear Jason, Joe,
I agree that this can be seen as an implied insult, and the Candyland apology
can be seen as a patronizing "I'm more enlightened than you" taunt.
Underneath it all seems to be a difference of perspective. Teaching others
how to avoid pitfalls along the path is not necessarily fear mongering! :))
But I also agree that "we're already free from everything, we simply havn't
let go yet." Language is, indeed, a powerful tool. Nuances often manage to
creep in where they are least expected! LOL The question is why they
materialize in the first place.
