Subject: [K-list] Sinuses (was Continued story)
From: Joseph Miller
On 2002/02/25 10:23, Joseph Miller posted thus to the K-list: Yep, when process is going the sinuses do drain. Actually I think it is when
Ida and Pingula are balanced but I'm not certain on that one, just
observation, not from a Master or scripture. Besides balancing them is the
best way to start process going if it isn't. So the question is really a
chicken and egg thing.
That is why it has been advised for centuries to do neti neti (nasal wash)
or sutra neti (string cleaning the nasal passages) daily. I've been doing
neti neti daily for around 15 years. Besides the beneifits for K it also
lets me use dairy and still function pretty darn well. It cleans out the
mucus which also helps digestion (a lot more mucus gets swallowed in sleep
than most people ever blow out). And it reduces snoring in most people,
haven't run a lot of samples but was told that and also told it helped my
snoring a lot.
Neti neti is easiest to start with a "neti pot" but after you've done it
awhile you'll save time by just pouring the water in your hand and inhaling
it then spitting and blowing it out into the sink. The "water" is warm
(remember it is in your nose, not your mouth and temperature perception is
different) normal saline solution. I've discovered that three heaping
Baskin-Robbins sample spoons of Kosher salt in a 42 oz cup comes pretty
close to normal saline.
Kosher salt because it is the only pure food grade salt commonly available.
It doesn't have added aluminum like Morton's and most others do to keep it
pouring in humid weather. You'll get plenty of aluminum from the water
unless you're using ozonated spring water so you'll still have a shot at
Alzheimers. Morton's also used to have sugar added but I think they may have
taken that out a few years back.
The stuff still has to come out but doing this daily, before brushing your
teeth for example, gets it out on your schedule not its. In the beginning
you'll have so much crud built up it may not seem like it is helping. But
do it over time and you'll see a marked change in what you have to deal with
at other times.
Doing it daily also helps prevent colds and sinus infections if anyone is
bothered by them. According to Ayurvedic medicine it also keeps the face
looking young and the skin of the face relatively free of wrinkles. For a
guy my age I have very few wrinkles (I'm 52). But it doesn't seem to do a
damn thing for gray or falling hair. Except for the hair I look about 10
years younger than I am according to most people.
Sutra neti is something most people in the US have trouble thinking about
without getting a revolted look on their face. Besides it is best coupled
with neti neti, so I won't go into it here.
Namaste,
Joe.
