The list is not "free", and it never really has been. People who are
passionate about it, pay the bills for everybody. Originally the list was
on a paid server, paid by me. The domain, the website and archives still
are paid by me, and gladly! Occasionally over the years, a few people have
realized there's no "Free lunch" and have given me donations to defray
costs... these donations are truly appreciated, and always welcome.

The list would not be what it is, without them because I burned out on
it as a one-woman show years ago. This list was the equivalent of a full
time job for me, for several years... I was repaid in the coin of my own
growth... priceless.
At this point, I see no reason to move the list, but it has been done
before.. four times since the list began. The website has been moved three
times. It could happen again.
Yahoo runs a pretty good service, a few s are not a high
price to pay for the list, the archive and file storage and all the
advertisements
functions. If I were to move it again, I would probably put a listserv
program in the cgi-bin of the the www.kundalini-gateway.org site and run it
from there.
We would lose some bells and whistles like the calendar functions, etc.
but most of these are under utilized anyhow. One thing that we would lose,
is the continuing influx of new members coming from yahoo's advertising the
list in its directories. Mind you, the original Kundalini-lATnospamexecpc.com is
also listed in the yahoo directories, even tho execpc. has not been the
list host for many years. Kind of annoying, as I cannot persuade yahoo I
own that list, so I could adjust the listing to point to this one. <shrug>
If yahoo decided to charge for the service, I would have to weigh the
cost effectiveness of leaving the list at yahoo and paying their fee, vs.
moving it to the domain, plus factoring the value of my time and effort to
do the move. My internet skills are all self taught, and duplicating
services like web-only membership would be a steep learning curve for me...
unless a more experienced volunteer stepped forward to set it up.
We would not lose the list archives, as they are all duplicated on my
harddrive and CDs... but they are enormous. The archives I have up already
are about 100k, and that does not include the years of archives since the
list moved to egroups which became onelist which became yahoogroups.
Out of curiosity, I have set up a short poll to gather some list
