You have hit the nail on the head exactly with this paragraph.

There is such ego and presumption in offerring healing and love. It can be a real slap in the face to the person being asked if they want help. How dare we presume these people are in a lesser place than we are in? We do not know their story. And you are right, they are already whole, perfect, and complete. How can we fix something that is already perfect?
One of my favorite sayings is, "The helping hand strikes again!" The only person who needs to change is the person who wants to do the changing. One of my hardest life lessons learned was not to interfere in any body's journey. I had to learn there must be mutual consent to create intention for healing. Anything else is a violation of free will. This can be one of the hardest concepts for any healer to learn.
I *rarely* offer my healing services to anyone. This is not to say I don't advertise but I don't go up asking people..."well, I was looking at your aura, or listening to your speech, or watching your attitude and I think you could use some help and healing in ....so on and so on...."
To bring it down into real life terms it is like going up to someone and saying, "I was just noticing. You look like you are 40 pounds over weight and I have something here that will help you look like a desireable human being again." My response is and would be, "Fuck you and the horse you rode in on!" There is no difference in my book in any of these offers...the energy behind the words is the same. *You are less than but I can help you be more than with my wisdom and knowledge.* How patronizing.
That is why it is so important for healers to develop the faculty of discernment. There are many important lessons for healers to learn. In my opinion one of the most important is my client is god/dess and I am the servant. God/dess is already perfect so what can I do to improve upon perfection? That is why I wait until I am approached.
As a healer we must always examine why we serve and heal;what is our hidden agenda.
When we see people suffer does it make us suffer and we want to heal the sufferring to make ourselves feel better? And if the client gets better how much the better but we have only relieved our own anxieties and feeling good around our own sufferrings.
I worked with someone spontaneously last week. During a conversation, he asked me, "Touch my heart and help me." It was a great session which was initiated by him.
I think if we are to be great healers we are to be great healers and lovers of our own self first. We first love god with all our hearts, our souls, and our mind. Then we love our neighbors. If I can't love god/dess Self purely... anything I offer to someone outside myself is a counterfeit of what is Real.
Keith is heading down the right path. He has a natural exuberance which is charming. :) And we learn by asking questions.
Just speaking from my own experiences.
Lovely blessings,
Susan
