On 2002/01/12 22:27, joyful posted thus to the K-list: Welcome back! :)
Nobody has peed on my shoes & nobody better try it
either! ewwww ;) I was commenting on how it seemed
that there was a bit too much *bashing* going on. I
thought it was inappropriate in general. And, as has
been pointed out, it's against list guidelines.
Bear in mind that there is always a *begining*. You
may think their first attempts are stupid and clumsy
and similar to be being force fed babies or sheep, but
why be rude and disrespectful? Why judge them harshly?
Where is the compassion and tolerance that self
proclaimed *enlightened and awakened* people should
have? Some people weren't *walking their talk*, so I
commented, generally.
Besides, just how do you expect *non-discriminational*
Americans, as you say, to GAIN discrimination if not
for begining to seek? That seeking may be traditional
religions, Eastern mysticism, new age, wicca,
whatever.
And who's to say what exactly is REAL TRUTH and what
is bull? Anything is possible here, that's why this
planet is so crazy and wonderful. :)
And I have yet to come across any good deliniation, or
definition of what exactly is *new age*. What makes a
book new age-ish? Numerology and palmistry are ancient
crafts as well as Tarot & Runes. So, I don't know, do
they qualify as new age? Crystals seem to be suggested
frequently as new age, yet I see many Native American
religions using them, as well as Buddhists, and I'm
sure many of us here have some crystals. Does that
make us new age cuz we believe they're sentient, or
useful tools? I mean, how exactly is new age defined
other than condescendingly from somebody who considers
themselves to be of a {insert title} *superior*
spirituality?
Discrimination just seems like an ego trap to me. I
pointed it out.
There's just too many unanswered questions in life...
I prefer things that challenge my thinking and help me
to think outside the box and question my concepts of
reality. Sometimes reading *new age BS* makes my mind
think bigger, and that's the real goal for me. I'm not
at the point where I think I know it all yet. I hope I
never have that arrogant condescending attitude. :)
I'm not being defensive, cuz I still don't have a good
definition of what new age is, so I don't consider
myself one, other than as I've mentioned it being the
new millenium. shrug. don't really care either. I've
really enjoyed all the comments that have come out of
me commenting though.

ps, bear in mind there is a very small sampling of
folks who go to the East to study mysticism. So to sum
up ALL Americans as XYZ based on this tiny group that
can afford to travel, have the guts, find the time,
are dedicated to get there, etc etc, isn't THAT a type
of discrimination {condescending prejudice ego trap}
as well? Aren't each and every one of us unique?
