we die...
Reincarnation to me is the molecules of your body breaking down to feed
worms, then a bird, then, who knows, a snake or cat or whatever. There
are pieces of dead creatures all through us, and I find the idea that
these pieces may retain some instinctual "memory" of where they've been
interesting, but not interesting enough to become an atomic scientist.
"I have been living with death since I was aware that I was breathing. It
has been killing me with its cold voluptuousness for as long as I can
remember. It is an excellent imaginative exercise for me, to close my
eyes and see in minute scatological detail, myself being devoured by
worms..."

"I kept dreaming of reality, and every time something awakened me. It was
like if the screen even began to clear, revealing its true nature,
something flickered and instead of looking at the surface, I would find
myself distracted by what was projected onto it. The flickers will
continue, but I won't be looking. This is the beginning of the end of
me."
