I'm not nuts about that story being made a movie. Notice in Tolkien's
work that descriptions of monsters and creatures and places are vague,
leaving broad stretches of the path mostly to the imagination. It's an
exercise for your ability to visualize, and I think the movie will take
that away. All movie adaptations of books are doomed to show too much...
