This EMDR sounds similar to something I experienced from a woman at a
street fair.
She had me sit in a chair with my feet flat on the ground, and my
hands crossed to hug myself. She had me close my eyes and imagine
I was sitting behind myself looking at myself inside a tornado that
spins in the counter clockwise direction.
Then she had me imagine a bright light caught up in the winds of the
tornado and to keep my eyes on it as it whipped around and around and
around, she talked me thru watching the light as it spun around my
body inside the tornado.
I was surprised that as the light spun around different areas of my
body that it triggered thoughts, sore spots and good spots too. She
didn't ask me to do anything with them, just to acknowlege them.
At the end of her guided visualization I felt very relaxed but spacey
too, I was tired. she told me to go lean up against a tree, take a
nap if I had a friend to watch over me. to drink plenty of fluids for
a couple of days and sleep and eat well. I did take a nap under a
tree. It was a very nice afternoon.
The visualization forced me to move my eyes, my eyes felt like they
had had a real good work out, and were sore that evening.
I use this visualization sometimes when I feel overwhelmed. I know I
have it right when I realize that my eyes have gone on auto pilot,
freeing my mind and body, the light in the tornado gravitates to the
cloggy places and spins them clean. unless this autopilot kicks in it
doesnt take long for the eyeballs to object and become tired, but if
the autopilot does kick in I have done this as long as 40 minutes
with no discomfort to my eyes at all.
It is a good clearing exercise. I have not had any tramic experinces
from doing this, but I have had little enlightenments occur, like
when the light exposes a sore spot, but it has not triggered trama,
only a nudge to let me know something is there.
I wonder if it works on the same principle as EMDR.
Lavina.
