Dear Melanie,

Welcome to the K list! :)) Welcome also to Elizabeth, Shirley, Carla,
Sandy, Maggie, Jack, and Lavina and all other newcomers! And good to hear
again from Jan, Mark, Tom and Dan! :))

Catalepsy is certainly be one side effect of Kundalini, and seems to occur
especially when K is in the vibrational mode. I experience this
frequently--most often at night. From what you describe, mine is a milder
form of what you seem to have experienced in that when it happens during the
day, it is simply a matter of my ignoring it and going on with whatever I
happen to be doing. The mind tells me that I'm paralyzed, but my body
continues to function! I suspect that this may be why you were actually able
to pull off by the side of the road. You were functioning despite the
awareness and fear that you were "paralyzed."

I think what happens is that the body goes into "dream" mode, and
physiologically the body is designed so that in order not to "act out" our
dreams, our muscles are partially frozen. This can happen also when the K
energy surges through the body so powerfully that it causes vibrations. I've
found that the two are often connected. When I wake up in this state it
takes me a few moments to "recover," though I can also break the "spell" by
an effort of will.

When we drive, we often go on auto pilot so we are more susceptible to surges
of K energy.

Since you have had a thorough medical checkup, I would try experimenting
zoning out in the car while it is stationary, and try moving while you are in
this state of paralysis. I know it seems contradictory, but it is actually
possible. It is a state similar to satori, so our awareness seems separated
from the body.

Well, this not "wanting" to move is simply a milder form, perhaps, of what
you felt in the car.

I hope this is somewhat reassuring. Fear certainly does often make matters
worse.
On the other hand you seem to have maintained presence of mind! :))

Hope this helps.

Love, Hillary
