Subject: [K-list] Alex Grey

If any of you are not familiar with Alex Grey, given the nature of this
list and the nature of his artwork, you will very likely want to be...

I strongly urge all of you to pay a visit to www.alexgrey.com -- if you've
been there before, go again, it's recently been updated.

Anyways.. he has a new book called Transfiguration, very big, many images
apparently. Moreso than The Sacred Mirrors which was just one "project",
whereas the new book is apparently everything he's been doing since 1990.
He does a lot of paintings, but also had a history as a performance
artist, also his wife is too. Her work is of a similar nature, but more
abstract/geometric/language-related, not focusing on living subjects. He
has a link to her site on his.

I strongly recommend going to his site if you appreciate beautiful
disturbing perception-changing images.. most are rather detailed
scientific-looking images of things we have no hard science for yet, just
very profound images of spiritual events inside people. He sort of begins
with the various scientific aspects of spirit body as represented in
various eastern religions. All the kinds of things we address over and
over on this list are his core subjects, polarities, awakenings,
unity/separation, ego death & transformation, etc etc. I bought The
Sacred Mirrors.. which has had an extremely profound effect on both me and
my girlfriend Jessica, it filters into my experience of music (and my
creation of it), my very experience of consciousness, it solidified a lot
of things both of us had been feeling.. she is a painter and you can
definitely see Alex Grey in what she does now. It practically took her
breath away the first time I showed her his previous book. I should have
the new one before she next visits, I can't wait to see how it affects
her.

Anyways.. so go to his site, and at least glance at a couple of images
from the gallery, very few of you will be disappointed or disinterested,
many of you will probably be shocked and feel something very 'true' about
what he is doing, something you may see a lot of yourself in (indeed, that
was the entire intent of his "Sacred Mirrors"). Heh, the truth is the
images hit me so hard, in some ways I have had to "tune them out" because
they were too intense, just like we do with certain internal experiences
we talk about here.
