Dear Josh,
Great questions! :))
In the far distance past there have been discussions about Kundalini vs
Prana. They are probably in the archives somewhere. :))
It is commonly stated that prana is energy that can be controlled, and
Kundalini is energy that is *way* beyond control. I suspect they are very
closely related, though--and perhaps it is simply just a matter of the
power/strength of the energy--just as different doses of the same drug have
different effects.
K energy seems to be different from simple prana in that it has, among other
things, a mystical component. I haven't had the classic K awakening of
explosive energy up the spine, but I have certainly felt the explosive energy
throughout the body, and felt the presence of something way beyond the
ordinary. :)) Some of the energy I seem to be able to control. I can bring
it from the sexual centers to explode in the brain, but at other times it is
totally uncontrollable and overpowering.
[ I am specifically
interested in valuable "next steps" from the blossoming "chill" energy
I am able to bring, because I am frankly not sure what to "do" with it
except enjoy it. Yet at the same time I sense that many things might
be done with it.]
Well, it certainly seems to have uses for healing and for creativity :)).
[ As I would
focus on it, it would shift, and it behaved peculiarly as I tried to
"direct" it anywhere, as though it had a will of its own, but was
aware of my will. It is hard to say how I knew it was in my head
because I could not directly feel the pulsing, but it would shift in
and out of this "blank area" into places where I could feel my flesh
pulsating again. Then, very immediately, if I got scared (I kept
saying to myself "I am not ready for sucha physical transformation"),
it would simply disappear. It came a few other times but never as
strong. ]
Neat experience! Yeah. LOL! K certainly has a will of its own! When it
starts to become scary and metaphysical--beyond the norm-- I would
definitely classify the energy as Kundalini and not Prana :)).
[ I
previously described, where it vibrated in my voicebox, which was at a
sort of equilibrium (I think I was retaining breath but letting it
move in/out slightly), producing something remarkably like a cat purr,
and I felt sort of catlike, frankly. What's up with that? Where
exactly do I seem to be, in relation to someone being given guidance
from an instructor.]
Sounds to me as though you are where you should be, since you seem to be
handling the energy well, but I am no expert. Cats seem to naturally do
stretches that activate the spine. :) and making sounds is certainly often
a part of the process. Some people even start to speak exotic unknown
languages.
Thanks for the great descriptions!
Love, Hillary
