"....grief of the new born"? Indeed, that's making a tremendous
assumption and coloring the glass darkly from day one. It
makes the whole human experience sound fundamentally bad.

I can't relate.

I do have one issue with my parents, though. They loved me
and robbed me of an unhappy childhood. Now I don't have
any excuses for my poor choices as an adult.
The responsibility for my feelings is my own... and I've grown
to like it that way.

Chris' approach seems Freudian in a depressing kind of
way. I don't "have a problem" with it, I just doesn't
resonate with me.
