much thought about the chakras. But maybe I am just being a ignorant.
Why are these things important? I thought I'd put that question to a
group that seems to be seriously involved.

Namaste All,
I have Motoyama's works as well, and he does mix Indian systems with
Chinese and then with technology.
One must remember we are dealing with the filter of one's own mind and
interpretation. There is no right and wrong.
IMO. K, which I have experienced since I was a boy, that's long time
ago!!hahaha, is actually the Mahat or universal mind. The energy or
mind of the Goddess or Saguna Brahman. There is karma and there is
prana and thats what does it all.
Even though energy takes many forms as does prana in the body, it just
functions of the same one energy.
So IMO opinion what K activity is, is the cleansing of the lower and
inner mind sheaths of the person by the universal mind/energy or
Mahat. What precipates this can only be karma, acting when it should
it seems.
Depending on how many samskaric/vibrations have to cleansed and how
many one keeps adding so is the intensity of the activity.
This may mean abstaining from meat, alcohol, and injurious thought
patterns or even picking up other people's patterns etc,
So if like a sage one cleans the body, mind, and soul and does
spiritual practice, one will find the activity slows down to a gentle
and almost imperceptible level.
This was the case with Sarada Devi the consort of Ramakrishna
Paramahamsa, and even though I am not a sage I found this to be true.
My early experiences were of pleasant energy, and dreams; when I went
on the spiritual path the activity became extreme in manifestation. In
fact knocking me over from padmaasana. Then as I directed my mind in a
particular direction it became more stable and channeled.
With regard to the Cakras, even in Motoyama's book he mentions
different numbers, and I have heard anything from 7 to 14 or more if
you take into account lower patalas. I believe cakras or vortices are
a necessary part of manifestation; for if energy doesn't move then it
is only potential, or prakriti. So there really isn't anything but
cakras on cakras everwhere. It is quite logical for energy to manifest
with regard to the endocrine glands for cakras and these glands are
part of the transducing process. Some cakras correspond to different
planes of the mind and body, or levels of consciousness.
However just manifestation, even at a high cakra level is of no real
effect unless the awareness has been raised and the intellect
purified.
So it seems like the energy is moving up the spine, but mostly it is
the 'attention' that is moving, for K is the mind and is always moving
for it is everything.
The more aware of our inner mind and energy sheaths one becomes, the
more one notices...The best channel of active K is meditation,
purification or prayer!!...OM Namah Sivaya.......Tony.
