Sean,
I appreciated the care and the good information
you put into your post to Leslee and
your obvious commitment to helping others.
I've often found that my energy which accompanies a message
is higher-impact than the particular words I choose. I think this
may be a common problem for k-active people.
If I share with someone some wisdom I've accumulated through my
own experiences, the person receives what I say
very differently depending on
whether or not I am still doing fear around those experiences.
It makes a big difference if I clear my fear first; I think outcomes
are generally better.
I want to share what I've learned, but not my fear (most people have
enough of their own and don't need mine).
When I read your post to Leslee, I agreed with your words but didn't
like the hit of fear-energy that I felt. I wasn't surprised
when she was frightened by your post.
I did think, since there is a protective/filtering structure in place on this
list (the lighthouse, thank you Mystress and any others responsible-
I don't know much about it though),
that if your fear-energy came through attached to your letter, then
perhaps that jolt of fear-energy is what Leslee needed to help her
to pay attention to your words.
I didn't welcome that fear-energy myself,
but it might have been just right for her, and Goddess' will was done.
Sometimes things work out this way.
A related issue is important for me.
Some people consciously or no seek to manipulate others with
this kind of fear-energy... I call this "fear-mongering" and I don't consider
it to be an ethical practice. It undermines the ability of the
recipient to sort things through for his/herself in a calm and centered
way. It may have good short-term results in that the person
heeds the warning, but long-term it supports fear-based reactive
decision-making.
So, I want to end by thanking you for two in-depth and well-considered
posts on the perils of yogic practices. I hope you continue to share
what you've learned, because there is a need. I don't think that
k-active people can do yoga in quite the same way they did as before;
one-size-fits-all recommendations about the best way to practice really stop
fitting as we experience explosive k-growth. I think k takes us
"off the map" and we have to get smarter about how we proceed once
we are exploring our own unknowns. Your posts were useful to me.
So, thank you.
Serena
