Subject: Special Request -The Tree of Life Project

Dear List,
By now all of you are aware of the tragedy of Sept. 11, 2001. We will not waste your time with a lengthy email, but instead get right to the point.
Over the last several month we have been working on something called "The Tree of Life Project" and are inviting you to join in with others who use the qabalistic Tree of Life as the principle symbol for Hermetic work.
In summary, we ask that each of you, individually, or in small groups, imagine to the best of your ability the Tree of Life within yourself, then your temple, and finally, in the center of your city or town. Once done, imagine that the energies are flowing from Kether to Malkooth and assisting in equilibrating the life, consciousness, and matter here on earth. We ask that you do not suggest or say how this is to occur, only develop the deep emotional sense that it is happening.
After this image is completed, if you so desire, you may also imagine yourself in harmony with one of the godforms of Tiphareth, or your 'Magical Personality,' absorbing the energies of Kether and radiating them through Tiphareth, Yesod, and finally Malkooth - our material world with emphasis on the area where you live.
If you are unable to imagine the Tree of Life but would still like to join in, then simply imagine a giant tree reaching to the heavens and performing the same function.
If you would like to focus this practice to one time a week, we suggest Thursday evening, or Saturday morning, for astrological reasons. However, any time will be of great assistance.
To some of you this may sound like another 'love the earth' meditation, but it is more than that. Through consistent and repeated building of the image we have noticed positive changes on areas where it was done, and are sure there are many things that have happened and went unnoticed.
In addition, it is an act of service. In the ancient mysteries it was often asked, "Why do you seek to learn?" To which there was only one acceptable answer, "To serve." If we are to be more than armchair occultists, and to be true 'Masters of the Temple' then service is the price.
In addition to the above, please reflect on the important issues around this recent crises. The sooner we learn its lessons, the sooner we will all get through it. In fact, one could ask, is it surprising that it occurred in Virgo as sign ruled by Mercury, the Messenger of the Gods, and an earth sign? What is the message this is telling us about how we communicate, relate to the earth, listen to the inner voice of conscience?
As we seek justice in the days ahead, let us pray for balance, mercy, and an end to human suffering.
In the near future we hope to post a full length document on "The Tree of Life Project" for individual and group use. Feel free to inform us of your participation in this small aspect of the Great Work.
