at http://aloha.net/~bpeay/kundalini/awaken.html.
'Symptoms' vary a great deal from individual to individual ie. some get
intense physical symptoms, while other mainly emotional or psychological
symptoms. Personally for years I got the energy rush up the spine business,
accompanied by hallucinations, but now I experience this energy in my head
alone. Also very intense synchronicity, and six major depressions totalling
four years. Given a choice, I'd have gone for a twisty spine over lying
comatose, unable to speak/highly suicidal for months on end, anyday....

Dear Sean, List,
Well, our experiences are all somewhat different! :))
As I was just writing to a friend,
"For a long time I questioned whether my experience was K since it was much
more physical than metaphysical and lacked any out of body aspects. Also the
energy up the spine is much less central to my experiences and never has had
the *force* others describe.
But of course I did/do feel the power of the energy--a
spiritual/metaphysical
quality in the "unity" and "messages." And I have often felt that
*freight-train* of overpowering energy that overtakes the body/mind
especially at night. It simply does not go up the spine!
So my guess is this: Certain chemical are released--endorphins, seratonin,
etc. These chemicals in turn allow access to the religious centers of the
brain. When they are released up the spine, there is loss of control--both
physical and mental because it is a *direct* hit.--sort of like taking drugs
intravenously rather than taking a pill. When the chemicals are more
dispersed throughout the energy centers of the body there is a more
"controlled" experience. "
There *may* be a difference between *prana* and Kundalini, but I suspect it
is simply one of degree.
Some of us have psychic or visionary experiences, some metaphysical ones and
others have primarily physical reactions. I think those who understand
metaphor are more apt to be able to intellectually comprehend what is
occurring and not feel it to be so "alien." Perhaps those who haven't been
traumatized can have the luxury of an easier flow of energy--fewer emotional
chakras blocked as it were. I'm not sure.
But I think all of us experience the miracle of these energies differently.
I don't think there is a difference between prana and Kundalini except in
the
force of the energy. It's sort of like taking a very small dose of LSD and
one that overpowers one.
Anyone have other ideas regarding K and Prana?
Love, Hillary
