Subject: [K-list] News update for anyone overseas trying to come home and global friends wondering

No international flights allowed into the country at this time ... may lift after noon on 12 September ... no flights within borders til then either ... all will be reassessed tomorrow...

Borders to Mexico and Canada have been closed since 9 pm Central time - so driving into USA is not possible at this time - or probably driving out ...

Just now finding out that Los Angeles airport was closed and evacuated since early in the day... Other airports across the country - even the small ones like where I am - have been closed down...

All sporting and entertainment events have been suspended indefinitely... like rock concerts and major league baseball and football... the Emmys Awards... even taping of late night shows...

All federal buildings were closed down across the country... as were tourist attractions like Seattle's space needle ... Disney closed down their parks world-wide...

I'm living in south Louisiana on the Gulf of Mexico - "cancer alley" actually - as doctors across the nation call it - where a large number of chemical plants and oil refineries belch out their best pollution - and we are in a virtual shut down for the area to protect these plants - not to mention trying to prevent the fireball inferno that could happen and take out cities from west to east in one huge wave - near Lafayette to Baton Rouge to New Orleans... and maybe more... We've done the terrorist scenario many times here ... did the same thing during the Millennium celebrations ... the population is aware of and prepared for the consequences ... worse in New Orleans area to get out because of the limited road system...

The Post Office has said it will not deliver mail past 600 mile radius of its origination ... this is indefinite until further notice...

Good news... people all over the country are lining up in droves to give blood at their local blood banks...friends in north Louisiana tell me that the lines go up past a mile ... people standing single file in line! (not in their cars)

Some great news ... in New York the rescue workers have found some survivors and been able to get them out! Apparently are many more living in the rubble of devastation ... amazing... let's continue to keep them in mind during this trying time and support them while they wait for rescue...

All for now, been glued to the TV for eleven hours now,
