Subject: [K-list] Re: desire was the most exquisite sort of ordinariness
From: Nina
On 2001/08/10 20:24, Nina posted thus to the K-list: David, most honorable ulterior motivator, desirer, if you will...
This I can see... the tracing back to some self the desire hidden
within selfless acts.
Curious to sit this view of desire next to, say, conception...
the "spark" moment... where is the desire in relation to self in that
moment?
Where is desire in relation self in relation to natural law?
Where is desire in relation to self in relation to Kunitz' crickets,
longing for the dance? (Thanks, btw, HBarrett for sharing that!)
contemplations,
Nina
(anterior motivator)

HBarrett submitted:
Lovely. You remind me of one of my favorite poets, Stanley Kunitz:
Outdoors all afternoon
under a gunmetal sky
staking my garden down,
I kneeled to the crickets trilling
underfoot as if about
to burst from their crusty shells;
and like a child again
marveled to hear so clear
and brave a music pour
from such a small machine.
What makes the engine go?
Desire, desire, desire.
The longing for the dance
stirs in the buried life.
