"Can" is a matter of free will. Your choice to choose to grow, or not.
It inevitably will lead you to understanding, if you make the choice to
look within, and make use of the information.
Or, you *can* choose not to, and go on spewing judgments and arguing
against it, choose not to grow at all. Whether the dynamic leads to
understanding or not, depends on whether you have the courage to look in
the ugly mirror that the irritations represent, and learn from the
reflection. If you choose not to, then it won't.
That you are choosing to interpret the Jung quote as you are, to
support your argument is a pretty good sign that you would rather not.
However, K. is dragging you to a place of eventually understanding
that you are All that Is.. you can take the easy road and surrender to
looking for the source of all irritation within yourself, or you can argue
and Goddess will eventually rub your nose in it.
It is natural for ego to resist.. but resistance is futile when dealing
with K.

You are the one who is irritated.. so the irritation is about you.

sure.. or did you mean, anyone besides me? :) ;)
Do a web search, keywords "Jung" and "Shadow"..
Blessings!
