I'd like to know why last Friday night, a few of the
birds near my house were singing *all night*. I was hearing them
about 1:30; but as I was in bed listening to Art Bell talk
about "shadow beings," I thought maybe it was some kind of radio
feedback. But around 2 or so, I turned the radio down--yep, it was
birds.

It was a weird, eerie sort of song that I have never
heard any birds around here sing. It contained tritone intervals (any
musicians out there?), which is a common musical interval used
in "scary" music, and in medieval timse was called the "devil's
interval."

Saturday night, I got home about 1:30 a.m., and they were at it
again. This time, they were accompanied by what sounded like
howling, fighting cats down the street, also unusual in this
neighborhood, and all the more eerie in conjunction with the birds.
(No, neither of those nights was a full moon--that was Wednesday.)

I have never heard birds singing after dark in this neighborhood,
although I did hear them sometimes on the campus of Tennessee State
U. in Nashville when I was visiting a few years ago. (I hope this
phenomenon is not following me around. =8-o)

Weird ....
