Subject: [K-list] Baby Christians Behaving Badly
From: Denise Lyon Anding
On 2001/06/07 10:53, Denise Lyon Anding posted thus to the K-list: Hello, Anne Elizabeth, and All,
So sorry to hear of your tough conflict.
I know a lot about the various Christian groups here in America but have never heard about the "Christian reformed." I have interacted with many different Christian groups. Are these Pentecostals you are referencing?
Yes, I was brought up Roman Catholic with the other half of the family as Southern Baptists, Methodists, Episcopalians, Greek Orthodox.... I have spent a lifetime caught in the crunch of disparate groups battling for supremacy in the Christianity arena.
That and I spent most of my high school years in a missionary Baptist American school overseas. That was pure hell. What an understatement... They heard the word "Catholic" and proceeded to break my spirit (obviously didn't work) and brainwashing tactics as well (that backfired).
They were convinced (and set about trying to convince me too) that all Catholics were secretly practicing Satanism and that the Pope was the Antichrist. Catholics were heretics. Funny choice of words, don't you think? (I even had to pass written tests for grades in several courses and echo this stupidity back to them...) Of course, when a Pope died, proving he was just a man like anyone else, they proceeded to tell me it would be the next Pope who would fulfill the role of the Antichrist. Like this was a child's game of tag and he's "IT"! They really functioned like a cult...
What was really going on here was that I never lost my Awake state and these people were fighting their Awakening. They preferred to remain Asleep. Sure seemed like the conflict was personal when it really was not.
Yet, in spite of all this stupidity I remained close to God and retained a basic Christian mindset. I think of it as "Jesus without boundaries and limitations." Many people on this lovely list of very different and so wonderful people would probably call that the "Christ consciousness." I chose to pursue a mature form of Christianity. Too much of what is represented today is glaringly immature, even harmful. They are still thinking on the lower levels of spirituality, the physical world, the "third" dimension, the limited mindset which has nothing to do with Christ Jesus. They are often relentless in their drive to attach it to others.
There is such a thing and scripture about "following God not man." At some point in spiritual development we find it a requirement to make that choice. People often make references to this as "follow your inner Voice." Good advice. Especially when it is your own resident God Voice (rather than negative parent tapes or societal screaming).
However, most traditional Christians have run in fear of the truths God sometimes has had me tell them. God can get pretty irritated with arrogance and the business of stifling someone's free will and shoving "their choice of rules" down someone else's throat. God likes us to seek in our own way and find our own path. God doesn't care in what manner we seek but only that we do make the choice to seek and then act upon it.
It is sheer arrogance to presume someone is "not saved." How do they know? Did God tell them? Are they really so sure they are "saved"? (Probably not or they would not be trying so hard to change you.)
This business of "needing to be saved" is really a religious form of "lowered vision." They are not holding you up to the Divine Standard nor themselves. They see only what they want to see. Not what is truly there. They don't think any better of themselves than they do of you.
That brings to mind the kind of jokes the "preachers' kids" used to make at this high school. They were often very rebellious. (Oh, gee, I wonder why.....) They were always jokes about who was "special" enough to be "saved" and get into heaven. (By the way, almost every kid in this school was the child of a preacher. Almost all the teachers were preachers. That makes this joke even more poignant.)
Like the following:
"Did you hear farmer John died last week?"
"No, so sorry to hear that, I'll pray for him to get into heaven. We all know he was a bit of a rascal. He didn't follow the church rules that well."
"Look, no problem, he visited farmer Peter on his deathbed a few days later and told him some startling news. You know how those two used to gossip constantly."
"What did he tell him? Did he talk about heaven? Did he get there?"
"Yes, he talked about heaven. Yes, he got there. Can you believe it? He actually scraped by and slid into heaven. He was so thankful."
"What else did he say? I'm sitting on pins and needles."
"He said that the new people that arrive in heaven are escorted over to a viewing window. That window lets a person safely view into hell. The idea is to let them know how lucky they are to have escaped the terrible flames and agony of hell."
"And who did he see walking around in all that heat?"
"Pastor Sam."
(Ruthless joke but it illustrates the mindset.)
God likes everyone and prefers to be revealed in whatever way is appropriate to that culture, person, time period of human discovery. God makes "the Plan," not the "followers."
I am not so sure they are really following God and the "leading of the Holy Spirit." It brings to mind the famous Gandhi and his statement after studying to be a Methodist preacher during Victorian England: "I love your Christ but I hate you Christians." Concise. Truthful. Doesn't say much for the followers, does it? (He was especially referencing their racism and pride and arrogance.)
As to "spiritual warfare," here is one for you. Employ your "Kundalini filter"! Then ask God or Holy Spirit (the Personal) or even the Christ consciousness to help you in this situation.
Would be a good idea to collect your energy field and then cloak it, suppress it. It will decrease the intensity and number of overreactions to you. Too many people are unaware their energy is literally bouncing off the walls (and light fixtures and...)
Often, other people perceive this bouncing energy as "stabs" piercing them and it frightens them, causing them to lash out and retaliate. Then that encourages you to retaliate and then they retaliate and then you retaliate yet again and then they retaliate and... It keeps the cycle going.
End the cycle. Do your best not to react. Remain neutral. Give no energy to them or the situation. The God energy inside you will show you how. The old "less is more" works beautifully here. The less you do the more this God energy will do for you. But you have to quit interfering. Step out of the way and let it flow. This energy has a Mind of Its Own and can adjust a situation lightening fast. Quit slowing it down.
This all sounds like "baby Christians behaving badly."
As to the "Baptism of the Holy Spirit." Your said you were raised Catholic? Did you receive the Rite of Confirmation? This IS the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. It's the exact same thing. This is the Holy Spirit descending down from "above" to enter into communion with you and to touch the Kundalini into rising (not "sleeping") from "below." The old Heaven and Earth fusing together into balance and union.
As to the "meditation" of the Holy Spirit for an Infilling of the Holy Spirit as being dangerous... WRONG! Didn't any alarm bells clang loudly here for you? Did you override your better instinct?
The Holy Spirit is not dangerous. The Kundalini is not dangerous. (Arrogant people can be.)
This smells too much like someone trying to pull off an amateur exorcism. Many charismatic groups blunder into this level "where angels fear to tread." (Having the wisdom to approach cautiously.) Some sincerely mean well but most are involved in a chase for personal power and authority over others. That, and "bragging rights" about their accomplishments.
God always asks a person's permission for EVERYTHING. The exercise of free will is very important here. This is not the way of God to force a Baptism of the Holy Spirit, claiming it will prove dangerous in the process. Simply not true.
What you can talk to them about is their own scripture about "the flesh warring against the Spirit." They think they are here to change you when really God has other plans. HA! HA! They are probably reacting to the energy field you are radiating from this union with God. They don't understand it and want to control it. (That control will never happen.) Who knows? Maybe God drew them to you for them to gain a Kundalini Awakening? How much fun is that! Irony!
This kind of friction is often set up by the Universe to help us gain more awareness about our own strength, greater knowing of God on many levels, greater working relationship with God and an opportunity for personal growth for both you and them.
Many many times Christians fear the Power of the Holy Spirit terribly. They are terrified of interacting with It. Today's Christians want to limit how much of God they want to take into themselves. They try too hard to reduce the vastness of God down to mushy baby food that tastes like cardboard.
That is why so many people leave the traditional church structure riddled with fear so that they can interact with Holy Spirit through the Kundalini rising. That is why I so much applaud people for choosing the Kundalini experience because this IS following God. It doesn't matter to me if people choose the discipline of a variation of yoga or Qabalah Judaism or... It all is interacting with God: "Know Thyself."
Much Love Joy and Peace to All,
Denise
