Yes ... paradoxical, isn't it?
I am aware of all these references ... both the serpent in Eden *and*
the one on the staff were *nachash*, and seraphim are fiery serpents.
However, that doesn't mean they're always good. For according to the
Bible, Lucifer/Satan is a seraph, only he's a fallen, *evil* one. The
Bible has plenty of warnings against being led astray by false "gods"
and "angels of light."
But actually, it seems to me that the "serpent rising" metaphor is
just that, a metaphor. "Kundalini," etymologically, has nothing to do
with serpents (if what I have read is correct); it means "coiled."
Seems to me that other, less scary metaphors could be substituted,
such as a seed sprouting into a tree, or a spring of living water, or
something like that.
What I really would like to understand is why, in some people (such
as myself), this seems to be a relatively gentle, pleasant process,
while in other people it seems to go completely haywire.
